New CO-OP & RETAIL UNITS

Weeping Cross, Stafford

We was awarded this large commercial contract following the successful completion of an office and restaurant development in Stafford a few years previously.

The build itself involved a structural steel portal frame with brick and block walls, a warm roof design with Kingspan sheeting then counter battened and a Sandtoft roof tile as the covering. The concrete floor was laid to minimal tolerances (+ or – 3mm) with a power float finish.

Externally there were rear bin stores and delivery bays for each unit with a large side delivery bay for the main convenience store. The car -park was completely re-designed with an attenuation tank storing surface water. Grease and oil traps serving the retail units were installed. New carp park surfacing and kerbing finished off the build with some landscaping and planting.

It is safe to say Central England Co-Op were extremely pleased with the finish!

New Co-Op and Retail Units, Weeping Cross, Stafford

Value: £80k

Completed: December 2022

This contract entailed working with project managers, clients, land agents and fit out contractors in order to facilitate the smooth running and timely completion of the contract.

The site started as an empty and derelict former public house that required demolition, the cellar required structural engineer input in order to fill it in correctly ready for the new foundations and steel work.

The site was in the middle of a residential area so there were some constraints to work with especially with site entrance and exits but with a successful neighbourhood consultation we were able to work with the local community in ensuring that the disturbance was kept to a minimum.
